Final Chair Project

well hears the evolution of my chair, from a drawing on a piece of paper to a full scale chair.
Through my trials and errors, i have learned greatly from this experience through the design process.
designing a chair takes a lot more time then i thought to make. i thought it would take a week (or two) at the most, but it was more like two months. you have to make the right dimensions for the right seat height and length or else your seat will fail. the problem with my models were the mortises connecting the chair to the sides, they were always uneven. but yet through trial and error i worked around that problem and made one heck of a chair.
i worked on this chair through Google sketch-up, its difficult cause everything has to be even.
And i cut this model on the C N C machine.

I choose this particular design for comfort, and storaging. were the arms are placed you can manoeuvre your arm better around and under the seat. for the back of the seat, i slanted it a bit for better lounging capability, and for the legs, you can see that the wood models legs are different sizes
You see the picture above is my legit chair.
I sate in this chair, and it works well.
From the comments on my chair, people also agree this chair is pretty legit.
This experience was epic, and would like to do it again.

my chair design, wood model and info of future product

Theys are my model chairs i have prepared for making my final product.
on my right, is my very first wood model that i cut out on the laser cutter, and on my left, is my second model. you can see many differences between the two chairs, but they remain similar. the second model of course is a lot taller compared to the first, and the second model has more curved edges. i learned that my chairs arms might be a problem, but i made the arms a bit thicker. i used google sketch-up to help me design this particular model, and without this program, i wouldn't of made this model. latter this week i will be making the large scale model hopefully.

Final blog post for my Wikiseat

Well, it comes down to this, my final blog post for my Wikiseat. After trials and errors i finally finished, and this has been one heck of an experience. i could for surely say i had completed my chair, but i wish i could have made it the way i wanted to. a lot of my plans had to be changed for rather lack of materials and lack of time.
As you can see, my chair isn't the most beautiful thing ever, but it can hold me up, but you have to be careful. i had a lot of intentions i couldn't do, for example:
-i wanted to make some camo on it.
-i wanted to make it sturdier
-maybe a bit smaller
-make it straighter
-make it even
I learned i have to be more well prepared if i am going to do this again, and have more available time.
Through the building of my wikiseat, i learned i am not very good at making a seat.
you can see me right beside my chair (Wikiseat).
i am proud that i made something for my Mom, but i don't know how she is going to react. i find i took a lot of my artistic skills out of the production of this project, thats what i am ashamed off.
after trial and error, i fell good that i built a chair.

Reality check blog post (my chair)

For my chair project, i was supose to design a chair for my local community, so i presented this model of my chair to my group. so i got a response from one of my members of my team, and they said "dont make your seat sketchy" but the resion for this remark was for the placement of my side of my chair.
it made my chair rock, but for my legit copy, i will better piece my project.

Furniture design standards 2

Theys are the Table design guidelines for making a table and the procedures with making it. you see with each individual table, the sizes very on the type. The night stand if you see bellow is smaller in comparison to the End table. if you want to design a table, here it is.
Theys are different types of  chairs and the guidelines to get started if your wanting to make a chair.
you have to very the size depending on the majority user.

Furniture design standards 1

When designing a chair, you have to consider the sizes of your possible hosts/guests. If its too big, it can fell bad for a small person, but a chair too small it could feel more crowded for a more, bigger person. stay tuned for the chair and table dimensions.

Weerol on Google Sketch-Up (WeeCup)

this is my Weerol project, for this i had to make a Weerol accessory for the weerol. this is called the WeeCup, this cup can attach to the front or the back of this contraption.
in the picture above, the kid is demonstrating the Weerol (Weecup). Think to yourself, would he/she want to enjoy there Weerol while having a nice drink?
of course, kids are like that to do two things at once.
the materials will consist of birch, the same used for the Weerol, and plastic for around the cup, and maybe for the inside of the cup, for extra water resistance.
I think potential materials that can be used for the cup is a light aluminum, or a different type of wood.
This cup is preferred to be set up at the back of the Weerol, cause if it was set up at the front of the weerol, then if the kid bumps in top something, stuff is going down.
The color of the Weecup, will be similar to the Weerols color.

Weerol Project

in class, i was tasked to make a weerol attachment.
my attachment is a cup holder, so little kids don't spill their drinks in the weeroll, im rather thinking on calling it the "weesip, the weedrink, or the weecup".

theys are my sketches of my project........

........and this is the Leggett thing, or prototype.

Wikiseat project, first the interview

When starting my wikiseat, i was tasked with interviewing one of my relatives, for one of their possible problems with a possible chair they may or may not even need.
my task is to make them their "Dream" chair and i got to make it to complete perfection.
So i decided to interview my Mother.
So i told her i wanted to interview her, and we made plans to a specific time we will consult about her chair (seat).
So before this interview, i made a list of questions for her to answer such as:
-How tall?
-How comfy?
-the main purpose for seat?
-Color?
-and etc
so basically at the end of my Quest, she wanted a bird watching stool ( about three feet high ), with some sort of comfy Seat on it cause she wants it to be soft, and it should be light weight, and a handle on it to carry into the bush, and my mom also wanted it to be camo coloured , cause of were she is going to be.
At the end we treated the Questions as a joke, but she is actually really exited to se how it turns out.
this is the sketch and some notes on my wikiseat project, this is what it is going to look like.

Skype interview with Derek Perkins about the Weerol

My interview with Derek Perkins was cool.
He told us about how he began his quest for world domination, and the time he put into it.
and he also consulted with use his ideas for earlier models of the weerol.
At first he made really rough drafts, and sketches of the product, but later on in production, it became reality.
I made a few pages of notes on this interview, and i will explain what I wrote.
I guess i will start with Derek Perkins background, in high school, he took a lot of math classes, but terrible, so he became a industrial designer in 1994, their is no math involved but you must know how TO DRAW.
When he had kids, he decided to make furniture for them, then had an idea.
He experimented with several ideas, and furniture designs and the idea had improved every design.
thats were weerol came from.
While working on his project, he had to Consider on the:
-Cost
-Safety
-Manufacturability
-Practicality
-and is it fun?
When he was brainstorming ideas, he had to consider:
-Sketching ideas
-Prototyping
-Testing
When thats finished, he also had to consider:
-Source suppliers
-Get quotes
-Purchase tooling
-Order samples
-The test samples
-Modify/repeat
-Schedule production
-Supply chain planning
 A) supplier
 B) production management
 C)Logistics
 D)And sales channels
But Derek Perkins problem is that he didn't have a way to get feedback from others, and a way to sell his product.
So thats when kickstarter starts, Kickstarter help Derek Perkins get:
-Feedback
-Exposure
-Concept Validation
-Pre-order sales
-and cause its Fun!
Thats how weerol started, so their you go, right from the source.

Weerol investigation

the weerol i heard, or read is a modern innovation for children's toys.
the weerol can change from a wheelbarrow to a car. I like the idea of this product cause the children playing with this toy have a large and a lot of various choices, for play options.

Wikiseat First Conversations/ investigation

My first reaction to this school project was What is this?
for this project, i probity going to make this for my mom, but i have not consulted with her yet.
i have an idea, but i cant start making decisions yet, because i need to know what type of wiki seat my mom wants. so this project is going to be very interesting for me.

written on Wikiseat.org  WikiSeat explores the possibilities of new teaching methods in core subjects such as science, mathematics, English, and literature, or any other educational application. The Catalyst is geared towards bringing tangibility to intangible concepts, while simultaneously challenging students to think smarter about the problems their generation is faced with.
The wiki seat basically explores new methods for creativity.
i am suppose to work on this over spring break, but we will se how it turns out.

Wallet Challenge Reflection

This is the wallet i made, it took me a period of 15 minutes. this is a rough model of my wallet and its made to hold a lot of space. in multimedia class i was teamed up with a fellow student of the name of Bradley. and we had to solve each others problem with our wallets. His problem with his wallet was he didn't have the extra space in his wallet to add the extra stuff. so i had the clever plan of making a wallet   that is bigger, and thicker to hold more. His problem is solved, and this project is done.
i had four ideas to begin with but i decided to go with this one, cause it was the best.
one of my ideas was to take his old wallet, but he would stitch up more pockets.
Another one is to buy a bigger wallet.
but my ideas and priorities were final, so i decided to MAKE him a bigger wallet.
I think its awesome.

Tim Hortons Experience

My experience making Tim Hortons logos in class was, well interesting.
When i had the task of making a tim Hortons logo, i had to think of every possible mascot or idea connected to tim Hortons.
The first two ideas i thought of were the coffee and their donuts.
But after that, i thought of tim Hortons origin, so i thought of canada.
making logos with maple leaves or having a beaver hold a Tim's coffee cup, and etc.
My logo ideas were pretty far off, but relate able to Tim Hortons.
